SRE / RCA Lead & Manager - Nearshore Team

About the role

Devoteam is looking for an experienced and strategic SRE / RCA Lead & Manager to join its nearshore team in Portugal, supporting a major aerospace customer. You will lead the Dev/DevOps Run & Build team, drive SRE culture across serverless cloud applications and ensure high availability, reliability and continuous optimisation. The role bridges development and operations, manages incidents and root cause analysis, and leads observability strategies in a modern AWS serverless ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and lead the nearshore Dev/DevOps Run & Build team, fostering ownership, continuous improvement and SRE best practices.
• Set and monitor reliability standards, including SLIs, SLOs and error budgets, balancing feature velocity with system stability.
• Run incident management, perform in-depth root cause analysis and implement preventive measures for critical production defects.
• Oversee cloud observability and monitoring frameworks using CloudWatch, Splunk, Dynatrace or similar platforms.
• Drive continuous cloud optimisation, cost efficiency and architecture improvements for AWS serverless workloads.
• Work with French build teams and customer stakeholders to align operational support, backlog priorities and knowledge transfers.
• Mentor team members, run performance reviews and guide engineers through complex operational and technical challenges.
• Ensure compliance with cloud security, infrastructure as code (IaC) standards and enterprise reliability guidelines.

Required profile

• 8+ years of IT experience with proven SRE, DevOps leadership or technical team management experience.
• Hands-on background in AWS Cloud services, especially serverless architectures (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Aurora PostgreSQL).
• Experience establishing SRE practices such as SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, incident management and RCA.
• Leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills in an international context.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
