Java Developer - Software Development

About the role

Devoteam, a global digital transformation consultancy active across EMEA, is hiring a Java developer in Porto. The role covers designing and building scalable Java applications, working with teams on requirements and code quality, and integrating third-party services.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Java applications using object-oriented programming and industry best practices.
• Write, test and debug Java code to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Analyze requirements with the team and turn them into technical specifications.
• Take part in code reviews to keep code quality high and share knowledge.
• Develop and maintain APIs and integrate third-party services into existing applications.
• Optimize application performance and troubleshoot issues systematically.
• Document code and technical solutions for clarity and maintainability.
• Contribute to planning and estimating development tasks within sprint cycles.
• Stay up to date with emerging Java technologies and best practices.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or similar.
• Experience developing enterprise-level applications and RESTful APIs.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to work efficiently in a team and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Experience with agile development methodologies.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Java, including object-oriented design patterns.
• Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring or Hibernate.
• Solid knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
