AWS Architect – Nearshore Team

About the role

Devoteam is looking for a strategic, detail-oriented Cloud Architect specializing in Amazon Web Services (AWS) to join its nearshore team in Portugal. As an Advisory Consultant, you will guide enterprise teams through cloud transformation and migration journeys, working with development, operations and Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) teams to define standards, review designs and deliver secure, scalable and cost-effective cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Recommend technological choices and set standardized AWS architecture patterns for migrations
• Review and approve target application architectures in technical change committees
• Work with CCoE teams (Foundations, SecOps, FinOps, DevOps) to enforce best practices
• Evaluate application portfolios to choose migration strategies and landing zones
• Advise on Infrastructure as Code governance, security baselines and cloud compliance
• Drive cost optimization and FinOps practices across enterprise AWS workloads
• Optimize deployment strategies and resource utilization with development and platform teams
• Champion cloud security best practices, governance and architecture guardrails
• Document blueprints, decision records and reference architectures, and mentor teams on cloud-native practices

Required profile

• 7+ years of IT experience, with 3+ years in AWS cloud architecture and advisory roles
• Proven experience in technical advisory, architecture review boards or change management committees
• Strong expertise in CCoE frameworks, including FinOps, SecOps and Landing Zone governance
• Understanding of cloud security compliance, threat modeling and IAM policy design
• English-speaking ability to lead technical discussions; strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills

Required skills

• Advanced AWS core infrastructure, networking, security and governance services
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation)
• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Associate or Professional are highly preferred
