Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Special Machine Building

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Special Machine Building team in Braga. You will design and develop 3‑D mechanical concepts and detailed part lists for customized machines and tools used in advanced assembly lines, supporting Bosch Car Multimedia’s automotive electronics production.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop 3‑D mechanical concepts and detailed part lists for customized machines and tools.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure designs meet technical, functional and operational requirements.
• Lead mechanical concept development, integrating innovative solutions with manufacturability, reliability and ease of maintenance.
• Manage product data using the Product Data Management system (Autodesk Vault).
• Conduct on‑site acceptance testing at supplier facilities to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
• Ensure equipment availability and readiness across key industrialisation milestones.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience in machine or equipment development.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Analytical thinker with a structured, solution‑oriented approach.
• Ability to work independently and within international cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• 3‑D CAD mechanical design using Autodesk Inventor or similar tools.
• Experience with PLM/PDM systems; Autodesk Vault is a plus.
• Knowledge of tolerance chain definitions for tooling and machinery.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, manufacturing processes and industry standards.
