About the role

Irium is looking for an experienced Senior Android Developer to own complex features from design through deployment. You will work in a hybrid setting in Lisbon, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality mobile applications.

Key responsibilities

Take end‑to‑end ownership of complex epics, including technical design, API contract negotiation, implementation, and deployment.
Write clean, idiomatic Kotlin code and build modern, responsive UIs using Jetpack Compose.
Maintain Clean Architecture and MVVM/MVI patterns, ensuring a modular codebase.
Identify and fix memory leaks, optimise network efficiency, and reduce app startup times.
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (Azure, Bitrise) for automated testing and deployment.
Lead testing efforts by writing robust unit tests and automated UI tests.
Debug high‑priority production issues and manage Android OS fragmentation challenges.

Required profile

Minimum 5 years of professional Android development experience.
Fluent English (minimum B2 level); all communication and profile submission must be in English.
Ability to participate in a live coding exercise conducted in English.

Required skills

Kotlin (including Coroutines, Flow, Inline classes)
Jetpack Compose (2+ years in production)
Android SDK, Lifecycle, WorkManager
Dependency Injection (Hilt or Dagger2)
Networking (Retrofit, OkHttp, GraphQL with Apollo)
Persistence (Room or SQLDelight)
Testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito/MockK, Espresso or Compose Test)
CI/CD tools (Azure, Bitrise)
Google Play Console, App Bundles, ProGuard/R8
Clean Architecture, MVVM/MVI patterns
