Quality Assurance Engineer - Software Development

About the role

Devoteam, a global digital transformation consultancy active across EMEA, is hiring a Quality Assurance Engineer in Porto. The role covers designing and executing test plans, writing automated tests and working closely with developers and product managers to ensure software quality.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and run comprehensive test plans and test cases covering functional and non-functional requirements.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts with industry-standard frameworks and tools.
• Perform manual and automated testing across platforms and environments, including functional, regression, integration and user acceptance testing.
• Analyse and document defects with reproduction steps, expected and actual results.
• Work with developers and product managers to clarify requirements and resolve quality issues.
• Monitor test execution progress, coverage metrics and quality indicators, and keep test documentation, data and environments organised.
• Stay up to date with testing tools, methodologies and best practices.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or similar.
• Proven experience in software QA and test automation, with knowledge of testing methodologies.
• Experience with bug tracking and test management tools (e.g. Jira, TestRail).
• Solid understanding of the SDLC and QA processes; excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills.
• Fluent English, spoken and written.

Required skills

• At least one programming language such as Java, Python, C# or JavaScript for test scripts.
• Test automation tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, Robot Framework, PyTest, Playwright, TestNG or JUnit.
• API testing tools and techniques.
• Version control, especially Git.
