Senior Recruiter (Lisbon)

About the role

Discord is opening its first engineering office in Lisbon and needs a founding recruiter to build the local talent pipeline for Core Tech engineering teams. You will join the US‑based recruiting hub while being the sole recruiter on the ground, shaping the hiring process from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Own full‑cycle recruiting for senior and staff engineers, handling sourcing, screening, interview coordination and offer closure.
• Represent Discord in Lisbon by building employer brand through meet‑ups, community events, university outreach and conferences such as Web Summit.
• Adapt and implement a compliant interview and offer process for the Portuguese market, partnering with People, Legal and Compensation teams.
• Partner with hiring managers and site leadership, providing market data, setting hiring standards and pushing back when necessary.
• Establish recruiting infrastructure: Greenhouse hygiene, pipeline reporting, sourcing operations and market intelligence.
• Track and report pipeline health and hiring velocity to recruiting and engineering leadership on a regular cadence.
• Define future recruiting support needs (agencies, contract sourcers, additional recruiters) as hiring volume grows.

Required profile

• Several years of full‑cycle recruiting experience, preferably in‑house at a high‑growth tech company.
• Proven track record hiring senior and staff software or infrastructure engineers in a competitive market.
• Deep, up‑to‑date knowledge of the Lisbon engineering talent landscape.
• Comfort operating autonomously across time zones and building recruiting roadmaps from scratch.
• Fluent English and either fluent Portuguese or demonstrated success recruiting for Portuguese tech roles.
• Strong communication skills and ability to represent Discord to candidates.
