Senior Recruiter (Founding) – Lisbon

About the role

Discord is opening its first engineering office in Lisbon and needs a founding recruiter to hire the Core Tech engineers who will build the platform’s infrastructure, audio/video, performance and security systems.

Key responsibilities

• Own full‑cycle recruiting for Core Tech engineering and supporting roles in Lisbon, including sourcing, screening, interview coordination and closing senior and staff engineers.
• Build Discord’s employer brand locally through meet‑ups, community events, university and agency relationships and high‑profile conferences such as Web Summit.
• Adapt and own the interview and offer process for the Portuguese market, partnering with People, Legal and Compensation teams.
• Provide talent‑partner guidance to hiring managers and site leadership, delivering market data and maintaining hiring standards.
• Establish recruiting infrastructure – Greenhouse hygiene, pipeline reporting, sourcing operations and market intelligence – to enable scalable hiring.

Required profile

• Several years of full‑cycle recruiting experience, preferably in‑house at a high‑growth tech company.
• Proven track record hiring senior and staff software or infrastructure engineers in a competitive market.
• Deep, current knowledge of the Lisbon engineering talent market.
• Comfort operating independently across time zones and building recruiting road‑maps from scratch.
• Fluent English and either fluent Portuguese or demonstrated success recruiting for Portuguese tech roles.

Required skills

• Experience with Greenhouse ATS and modern sourcing/AI tools.
