Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Uphold is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own and evolve the APIs and microservices that power its consumer and business platforms. You will work on high‑availability, high‑scale systems that enable on‑chain payments, banking, and investment services for millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure, performant backend services and APIs.
• Lead complex feature delivery from design through production.
• Make architectural decisions across digital, crypto, and microservice boundaries.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Mentor teammates, raise code‑quality standards, and champion best engineering practices.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
• Stay current with the evolving tech stack and blockchain ecosystem.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong background in backend development and microservice architecture.
• Experience handling high‑availability and complex scalability challenges.
