Software Developer – Hybrid (Porto)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Developer to join Sysmatch’s engineering team in Porto on a hybrid basis. You will contribute to the evolution of our cloud‑native platform, working with senior engineers to design, build and maintain robust backend services while also supporting front‑end initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers and architects to understand functional and technical designs.
• Write, configure, unit‑test, maintain and document software deliverables following established standards.
• Design and implement reusable components, frameworks and libraries.
• Participate in proof‑of‑concept work and prototyping as needed.
• Enforce design and coding standards, policies and procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers on development and delivery practices.
• Work within Agile/Scrum sprints to deliver high‑quality releases.
• Take part in code reviews and sprint retrospectives to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with QA to ensure software meets the definition of done and transitions smoothly to production.
• Promote an innovation culture by evaluating new processes and technologies.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of software development experience, primarily backend.
• Strong expertise in Python.
• Familiarity with frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript is a plus.
• Experience with relational (PostgreSQL) and non‑relational (MongoDB) databases.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, event‑driven architectures and microservices.
• Hands‑on experience with containerisation (Docker) and cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS or GCP acceptable).
• Proficiency with Agile methodologies, Scrum ceremonies and tools like Azure DevOps or Jira.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines, using Git and applying unit/integration testing frameworks.
