Senior Processes & Quality Manager – Customs Classification

About the role

As the Senior Processes and Quality lead for Global Classification, you will act as the subject‑matter expert for customs operations, driving standardisation and optimisation across the organisation. You will ensure compliance with international trade regulations while improving the efficiency and quality of tariff classification for Portugal and EU markets.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, plan and document customs processes, focusing on tariff classification for Portugal and EU countries.
• Define, monitor and report KPIs through internal audits and spot checks to maintain high quality and compliance.
• Create and communicate guidelines, providing expert oversight to operational customs teams.
• Serve as the central interface between Logistics, Engineering, Procurement, Tax, Sales and the internal customs team.
• Collaborate with regulatory colleagues to manage customs audits and resolve complex procedural issues.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in customs and foreign‑trade compliance (import/export, AEO, preferences) with strong risk judgement.
• Proven tariff classification capability for Portugal and EU, understanding financial implications of misclassification.
• Experience in process modelling, analysis and documentation, turning complex requirements into clear guidelines.
• Data‑driven mindset with experience defining KPIs, conducting audits/spot checks and implementing sustainable improvements.
• Strong stakeholder leadership and communication skills to influence cross‑functional teams.
