Senior Piping Stress Engineer – Industrial Mechanics

About the role

Quadrante is looking for a Senior Piping Stress Engineer to join its Industrial Mechanics department in Lisbon. You will take full technical ownership of piping design across EPC/EPCM projects in industrial energy, oil & gas, renewable hydrogen, biogas and biomethane.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of piping systems from feasibility and FEED through detailed design, construction support and commissioning.
• Prepare and review technical documentation such as feasibility studies, specifications, plant layouts, 3D models, P&IDs, isometrics and cost estimates.
• Develop routing studies, equipment layout definitions and 3D models ensuring constructability and maintainability.
• Perform pipe stress analysis (CAESAR II), flexibility studies, hydraulic calculations, support design and nozzle load assessments, and propose mitigation measures.
• Coordinate work plans, track progress, manage long‑lead items and report to the Project Manager.
• Represent the piping discipline in interdisciplinary meetings, design reviews and client interactions.
• Support HAZOP, HAZID, SIL and constructability reviews and contribute to tools, standards and methodologies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Fluid Mechanics, Energy or Structural focus preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial piping design, preferably with exposure to renewable hydrogen or biomethane projects.
• Fluent English (mandatory).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks strategically while maintaining detail orientation.

Required skills

• Advanced pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II (mandatory).
• Proficiency with E3D (PDMS), AutoCAD Plant 3D and ANSYS.
• Strong knowledge of standards: ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, EN 13480, DVGW, ISO 15649, PED 2014/68/EU.
• Experience in flexibility studies, hydraulic calculations, support design and nozzle load assessments.
