Senior HR Payroll Specialist – French Scope

About the role

We are looking for a senior HR payroll professional to lead the French payroll function for a multinational based in Porto. The role combines oversight of outsourced payroll processing with hands‑on management of complex calculations, legal compliance and employee support.

Key responsibilities

• Validate and audit all payroll work performed by the external provider, ensuring high quality and accuracy.
• Manage overtime, severance, bonuses and profit‑sharing calculations.
• Interpret and implement new French tax and labour regulations, maintaining continuous learning.
• Reconcile Social Security sick‑leave payments (IJSS) and resolve discrepancies.
• Respond to employee payslip inquiries and liaise with HR, ADP and French official bodies.
• Provide back‑office support for payroll and assist with general back‑office operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Accounting, Law or a related field.
• Minimum eight years of senior payroll experience in France.
• Strong knowledge of French labour legislation, collective agreements and social security rules.
• Experience in an HR Shared Service or contact centre environment is a plus.
• Native or fluent French (C1/C2) and at least B1 level English.
