Program Launch Buyer – New Product Introduction

About the role

The Program Launch Buyer is responsible for managing new program launches from prototype through production launch. The role focuses on cost estimating, Bill of Materials (BOM) creation, supplier selection and hand‑off to production purchasing, ensuring that cost and timing targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate technical evaluations of new components together with Supplier Quality and Engineering teams.
• Prepare cost estimates for new components using existing part data and supplier information.
• Issue and follow up on RFQs, applying global and local sourcing strategies and securing contract formalisation.
• Analyse cost breakdowns with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Logistics to optimise costs.
• Ensure timely receipt of documentation required for component validation and supplier tooling.
• Maintain supplier‑internal function relationships and act as a key member of cross‑functional New Program meetings.
• Drive continuous cost‑reduction initiatives through negotiations, VA/VE projects and process analysis.
• Support development of new suppliers that meet cost, quality and delivery requirements.
• Assist with purchasing process audits related to new programs and adhere to quality, health, safety and environmental policies.

Required profile

• Experience managing new program launches from prototype to production.
• Ability to work closely with Advanced Product Launch Buyers, Plant Commodity Purchasing, Supplier Quality Engineers, Supplier Development Engineers and Global Supply Chain Managers.
• Strong analytical mindset for cost optimisation and supplier investment evaluation.
