Production Team Leader – Weekend Shift (6h‑18h)

About the role

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is expanding its new production plant in Viana, Portugal and seeks a dynamic Production Team Leader for the weekend shift (6 h‑18 h). You will coordinate a team of operators, ensure safe and efficient production, and drive continuous improvement in a high‑volume environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assign tasks, set production objectives and monitor daily performance.
• Train new members on safety, equipment operation, 5S, assembly and inspection processes.
• Lead problem‑solving activities (8D, 6M, 5 Whys) related to safety and quality.
• Conduct daily shift meetings and communicate performance indicators such as OEE, Through‑Put, FTT, PPM, scrap and TRIR.
• Support implementation of visual tools, JIT, Kanban and other lean production methods.
• Maintain process control using preventive maintenance, poka‑yoke, startup checklists and LPALead.
• Assist operators with personal issues, manage absences and vacations.
• Collect production data for engineering and ensure compliance with control plans through daily audits.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading production teams in an industrial setting.
• Strong focus on safety, quality, cost and delivery.
• Ability to motivate staff and support their development.
• Excellent communication skills for shift hand‑overs and cross‑functional collaboration.
