People Operations Executive – German Payroll (6‑12 months)

About the role

We are looking for a People Operations Executive to support our German project for the next 6‑12 months. You will own the accurate, on‑time processing of monthly German payroll and act as the first point of contact for German employees on pay, benefits and lifecycle matters. Fluency in German and English and hands‑on experience with German payroll and regulations are essential.

Key responsibilities

• Process the end‑to‑end monthly German payroll, gathering inputs, submitting and reconciling.
• Serve as the main contact for the German payroll provider, resolving queries each cycle.
• Ensure compliance with German payroll and employment legislation and stay updated on regulatory changes.
• Maintain payroll records, support year‑end processes and statutory reporting.
• Respond to German employee queries on payroll, benefits and HR policies in both German and English.
• Administer benefits programmes for German staff, handling enrolments, changes and provider liaison.
• Manage the employee lifecycle for Germany – onboarding, contract changes, family leave and off‑boarding.
• Keep people data accurate in the HRIS (Hibob) and produce reliable reports.
• Identify and implement process improvements, leveraging AI tools and automation.

Required profile

• 2+ years experience in People Operations, HR administration or payroll, preferably in a fast‑growth environment.
• Hands‑on experience processing German payroll and solid knowledge of German payroll and employment regulations.
• Fluent in German and English, written and spoken.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Comfortable handling high‑volume administrative work.
• Highly organised, able to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Solution‑oriented, proactive in researching answers and fixing issues.
• Strong communication skills with discretion for confidential information.
