Payroll Specialist

About the role

Exide Technologies is seeking a Payroll Specialist for its Corporate division in Castanheira do Ribatejo, Portugal. Reporting to the Business Controller & Payroll Manager, you will ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing while supporting reporting and continuous improvement of payroll processes.

Key responsibilities

• Process payroll for all Exide employees in Portugal.
• Maintain and update the employee database.
• Manage daily time and attendance, including absences, overtime and schedules.
• Prepare reports and KPIs to support HR management.
• Process and review all payroll components and prepare monthly income declarations for Social Security and Tax Authorities.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, internal controls and Exide Group guidelines.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and year‑end management reports.
• Support payroll budget and forecast activities.
• Manage wage garnishments, deductions, collections and payments.
• Assist HR in interpreting payroll‑related legislation and respond to employee queries.
• Contribute to the improvement of internal departmental processes.

Required profile

• Degree in Human Resources Management, Management, Economics or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years professional experience in payroll.
• Knowledge of Portuguese labor legislation.
• Experience in an industrial environment.
• Strong communication, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proactive attitude, team spirit and attention to detail.
• Good command of English.
• Proficiency in IT tools from a user perspective, especially Excel.
• Experience with Primavera software is a plus.
