Payroll Operations Team Lead – French Speaker

About the role

As a Payroll Operations Team Lead you will head a Portugal‑based payroll team that supports payroll delivery for Belgium, France and the Netherlands. You will ensure accurate, timely and compliant payroll processing while fostering a high‑performing, customer‑focused culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of Payroll Specialists in Portugal, promoting collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Guarantee accurate, on‑time payroll delivery across the three countries, maintaining controls, regulatory compliance and audit standards.
• Manage team performance through workload prioritisation, resource allocation, training, feedback and cross‑training initiatives.
• Act as the primary escalation point for payroll operational issues, ensuring swift resolution and business continuity.
• Build strong partnerships with HR, Finance, external providers and GBS stakeholders, supporting transformation, process harmonisation and operational excellence.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or equivalent in Human Resources or Administration.
• Proven experience in global or multi‑country payroll operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop people in a GBS environment.
• Strong stakeholder‑management and communication skills.
