Operational Buyer

About the role

We are seeking an Operational Buyer to join ZEISS in Lisbon, supporting the procurement of goods and services that enable our global operations. The role works closely with strategic and tactical procurement teams to ensure timely, compliant purchasing while contributing to continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Process purchase requisitions independently within assigned supplier portfolios following ZEISS procurement processes.
• Create, maintain and monitor purchase orders in the ERP system.
• Communicate with suppliers on order confirmations, delivery schedules and resolve order‑related queries.
• Monitor delivery dates, follow up on delays and resolve discrepancies in price, quantity or delivery.
• Conduct price comparisons, obtain quotations and support negotiations within defined approval limits.
• Assist in supplier selection, evaluation and maintain supplier master data in SAP.
• Prepare procurement documentation such as NDAs and framework agreements.
• Support invoice reconciliation with Accounts Payable and handle complaints, returns and tender activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for procurement efficiency.

Required profile

• Completed vocational or commercial qualification in Purchasing or equivalent.
• Experience processing purchase orders and managing supplier relationships.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems, particularly SAP.
• Ability to perform price analysis and negotiate with suppliers.
