Mechanical Design Engineer (Robotics Experience)

About the role

We are a scaling robotics company building autonomous systems for demanding AgriTech environments. As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will own the physical product from CAD design through assembly, supplier engagement, and field deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and assemblies for the robot, managing CAD across multiple iterations.
• Maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) with accurate version control and alignment to procurement and production.
• Source components, request quotes, manage lead times, and build strong supplier relationships.
• Support and improve assembly processes, create clear documentation, and provide hands‑on assistance.
• Spend time in the field attending deployments, customer sites, and trials to gather performance feedback.
• Collaborate with embedded systems and software teams to integrate sensors, wiring, and hardware.
• Assist with product certification (CE marking, machinery directive) and contribute to technical documentation.
• Identify and implement design improvements based on field feedback, manufacturing constraints, and cost optimisation.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design or product engineering, preferably in robotics, machinery, or industrial equipment.
• Strong proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
• Experience managing BOMs and working directly with suppliers/manufacturers.
• Hands‑on experience assembling and building physical products.
• Comfortable working in the field and engaging with real‑world deployments.
• Exposure to product certification processes (CE marking, machinery directive) is a strong plus.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented, and able to handle multiple workstreams in a fast‑moving startup.
