Category Buyer

About the role

As a Category Buyer you will negotiate and contract long‑term agreements with strategic partners identified in the category strategy, aiming to boost SBM Offshore’s competitiveness and secure supply.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Category Manager in managing strategic suppliers, monitoring financial data, capacity, and investment plans.
• Conduct market analysis and ensure commercial agreements align with project, operations, or indirect procurement needs.
• Develop and deliver frame agreements according to the contracting plan defined in the category strategy.
• Negotiate packages and services using benchmark and cost‑breakdown models, incorporating Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) considerations.
• Assist projects, operations, or indirect procurement teams when vendor relationships are at risk, handling disputes, claims, and slot allocations.
• Measure, monitor, and report savings and supply‑chain KPIs resulting from the category strategy.
• Issue purchase orders for key scopes when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration or a related field.
• Previous procurement or supply‑chain experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and market research.
• Effective communication and problem‑solving abilities.
