Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Datamentors is building a robotics platform in Madeira and needs a Manufacturing Engineer to stand up the Ardia factory assembly lines from scratch. You will define how quadruped, mobile upper‑body and humanoid robots are built, write SOPs, design fixtures and balance stations to meet a 10‑hour takt.

Key responsibilities

• Write and validate manufacturing SOPs for each assembly station, starting with the quadruped line.
• Design, procure and validate height‑adjustable, ESD‑safe and ergonomic assembly jigs and tooling.
• Balance station load against the 10‑hour unit takt and resolve bottlenecks before they affect throughput.
• Lead process FMEAs at each launch gate, track corrective actions and incorporate learnings into future line designs.
• Collaborate with quality control and calibration teams to improve first‑pass yield across all three robot lines.

Required profile

• 4+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience in electromechanical assembly.
• Hands‑on experience writing SOPs and designing fixtures, not just reviewing them.
• Proven ability to balance lines to a defined takt and own process FMEA closure tracking.
• Knowledge of ESD‑safe assembly practices and IPC‑A‑620 wiring‑harness standards.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Caniçal, Madeira.
• Nice to have: Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt certification and robotics‑specific assembly experience.
