HR & Office Manager – Portugal

About the role

The HR & Office Manager for Waratah in Portugal will lead the Human Resources department and oversee day‑to‑day office operations in Porto. Reporting to the Director of Portugal Operations, you will ensure compliance with company standards, safety protocols and budgetary goals while supporting crew members and senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the legal representative of Waratah in Portugal.
• Ensure HR policies comply with local, state and federal regulations.
• Execute HR projects delegated by the Director of HR Operations – River & Ocean.
• Assist crew members with HR‑related inquiries and provide training to captains on performance management, compliance, termination procedures and social benefits.
• Prepare, issue and manage all contractual documentation for crew members.
• Enter and maintain crew data in the Radiant Fleet HR system, monitoring certificates, expiry dates and health/accident records.
• Coordinate with external agents and authorities to meet regulatory requirements.
• Visit crew members on board and on shore as needed.

Required profile

• Background in a river cruise company with strong understanding of office and maritime regulations.
• Excellent administrative skills and proficiency with MS Office.
• Organised, flexible, positive, open‑minded and able to work under pressure.
• Fluent in Portuguese and English (mandatory).
• Previous experience in a human resources role.
• Solid knowledge of Portuguese labour law.
• Strong ethical standards and people‑focused attitude.
• Attention to detail and process orientation.
