HR Generalist – Employee Relations & Operations

About the role

The Human Resources Generalist supports employees, managers, and operational teams at Haworth's Águeda manufacturing site. Focused on employee relations, the role ensures a positive work environment while delivering day‑to‑day HR services and helping implement people processes across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary HR contact for employees, providing visible support throughout the production environment.
• Build strong relationships with staff, supervisors, and managers to foster engagement and open communication.
• Assist managers with attendance, performance, employee‑relations issues, conflict resolution, and team dynamics.
• Apply HR policies, procedures, and employment practices consistently.
• Coordinate onboarding, contract administration, medical examinations, and off‑boarding activities.
• Support time‑keeping, ensuring accurate records of attendance, overtime, schedules, and absences.
• Manage temporary‑staffing agencies and oversee recruitment, onboarding, and administration of temporary workers.
• Identify training needs and coordinate learning initiatives across operational functions.
• Contribute to employee‑engagement events, internal communications, reporting, compliance, and process‑improvement projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience as an HR Generalist, preferably in manufacturing or an industrial setting.
• Proven experience in employee relations, HR operations, and temporary workforce management.
• Knowledge of Portuguese labour legislation and payroll/time‑keeping practices.
• Fluent English (written and spoken); Spanish is a plus.

Required skills

• Experience with HR information systems; SAP SuccessFactors is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
