Health Care Specialist (68W) – Army National Guard

About the role

The Army National Guard is seeking motivated individuals to serve as Health Care Specialists (MOS 68W). In this position you will provide emergency medical care to civilians after natural disasters and to Soldiers on and off the battlefield, while gaining valuable medical experience and supporting national readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Administer emergency medical treatment to battlefield casualties.
• Assist with outpatient and inpatient care and treatment.
• Instruct Soldiers in Combat Lifesaver/First Responder courses.
• Manage Soldiers’ medical readiness, supplies, and equipment.

Required profile

• Must be a U.S. citizen meeting National Guard enlistment standards.
• High school diploma, GED, or junior standing in high school.
• Age between 17 and 35.
• Pass a physical examination and meet legal and moral standards.

Required skills

• Emergency medical treatment.
• Patient care techniques.
• Plaster casting techniques.
• Combat Lifesaver training.
• Medical readiness management.
• Certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) at EMT level or higher.
