About the role
The Head of Account Management will lead and scale a high‑performing Account Management organization in Portugal. This senior leadership position combines strategic direction with hands‑on management of top‑tier merchant relationships to drive revenue growth and long‑term client success.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop the Account Management team, setting performance expectations and creating development plans.
- Define and own KPI and OKR frameworks, tracking revenue, conversion, approval rates and portfolio growth.
- Build scalable onboarding, hiring and training programs to support team expansion.
- Personally manage and grow relationships with top‑tier merchants as a strategic advisor.
- Conduct quarterly business reviews focused on performance analysis, ROI and growth opportunities.
- Drive revenue expansion through upselling, cross‑selling and increasing transaction volumes.
- Establish Account Management strategy, including segmentation, client tiering, retention frameworks and growth playbooks.
- Collaborate with Product, Sales, Finance, Legal and Integration teams to ensure seamless client experiences.
- Provide market insights and client feedback to influence product development and commercial strategy.
Required profile
- 6+ years of experience in Account Management, Customer Success or Business Development, preferably in fintech or payments.
- 2+ years of leadership experience with a proven ability to scale high‑performing teams.
- Strong understanding of payment ecosystems, merchant lifecycle and transaction economics.
- Demonstrated success managing high‑value client portfolios and delivering measurable revenue growth.
- Excellent analytical skills to interpret transaction data and identify performance gaps.
- Commercial mindset focused on shifting teams from reactive support to proactive revenue generation.
