Director of Global Supply Chain

About the role

This senior position is based in Portugal and leads the global supply chain function for a complex manufacturing organization. The Director will shape commodity management, strategic sourcing and supplier performance across multiple regions, working closely with senior executives and business units.

Key responsibilities

• Lead global strategic sourcing, commodity management and supplier negotiations to reduce material costs and improve total cost of ownership.
• Design and oversee quotation processes, supplier awards and implementation timelines.
• Analyze global spend, pricing, VMI activity and supplier data to set competitive pricing targets.
• Develop and maintain reporting on savings, purchase price variance, supplier performance and implementation progress.
• Create supplier scorecards, executive relationships and escalation procedures to ensure accountability.
• Monitor market trends, emerging technologies and supply risks, translating insights into actionable strategies.
• Implement supplier risk mitigation, business continuity and responsible sourcing programs.
• Build, lead and develop a global supply chain team, defining expectations and professional development plans.
• Partner with senior leadership on projects that drive margin improvement and business growth.
• Travel internationally and domestically to engage with business units, suppliers and strategic partners.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in global supply chain, strategic sourcing or procurement.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and performance‑management capabilities.
• Ability to influence senior executives and cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to travel internationally and domestically as needed.
