Data Architect – Enterprise Data Platform (Lakehouse)

About the role

Our client, a global asset manager with over €3 trillion in assets under management, is executing a firm‑wide data strategy. They are building a modern Enterprise Data Platform on Databricks and need a senior Data Architect to own the lakehouse architecture and drive data‑as‑product practices across more than 70 business domains.

Key responsibilities

• Own the Lakehouse architecture, Unity Catalog design and medallion standards for all domain teams.
• Author and maintain Architecture Decision Records and reference implementations.
• Review domain designs, contribute to code reviews and co‑own the reference pattern library.
• Design Azure‑native EDP topologies, including workspaces, clusters, networking, identity and cost controls.
• Define FinOps guardrails, observability and agentic rules to enforce standards automatically.

Required profile

• 10+ years of data platform architecture experience, with several years on Databricks in production.
• Deep hands‑on knowledge of Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines, Spark, Photon and Databricks Asset Bundles.
• Strong data modelling expertise (entity resolution, slowly changing dimensions, event/state modelling, semantic layer).
• Experience implementing enterprise data catalogues (Collibra, Purview, Alation, AWS DataZone or similar).
• Fluent English and comfortable writing reference code, reviewing PRs and pairing with engineers.
