Cost Engineering for Space (Medium/Senior)

About the role

Airbus Portugal is hiring a Medium/Senior Cost Engineer for Space to join its Global Business Support (GBS) team. The role owns the financial elements of space programme offers, including pricing, cost modelling and independent estimates, and works closely with Engineering, Operations, Commercial, Program and Procurement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the consolidation of offers across programmes, drive costs toward the target and own the offer cost brochure and detailed costing file
• Ensure consistency between technical, industrial, commercial and program baselines and the costing assumptions, and integrate costs into decision gates (MG3, RMC)
• Manage cost models and cost referentials, collect actuals, prepare deviation and cost evolution reports and feed the benchmark database
• Perform independent cost estimates of systems and subsystems using analytical, parametric or similarity approaches, and support gap analysis
• Coordinate quotations, deliver bid cost brochures and pricing entries for decision gates, and support the pricing team until contract signature
• Manage the transition from costing to Program EAC after program kick-off, and support cost target setting, supplier cost challenges and knowledge management

Required profile

• Engineering degree (mechanical, MAIT...) with an understanding of finance, economics and mathematical methods
• Programme experience
• Ability to lead and coordinate a transnational team, communicate effectively and convince at management level
• Proactive, problem-solving approach, able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines; flexibility of working hours is essential
