Backend Engineer – Early Career (Remote, Portugal)

About the role

Zego is looking for an early‑career Backend Engineer to join a product team building insurance‑tech services. You will work remotely from Portugal, collaborating with senior engineers and contributing to customer‑facing backend systems. The role is designed for someone who has shipped production code and wants to accelerate toward senior engineering responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services that power Zego’s insurance products.
• Write clean, well‑tested code and maintain documentation for long‑term maintainability.
• Participate in code reviews, learn from peers, and pair with senior engineers on complex problems.
• Proactively ask questions, seek feedback, and take ownership of knowledge gaps.
• Integrate AI tools into daily workflows and help the team improve their usage.
