Software Engineer – Java Microservices

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Software Engineer specialized in Java microservices to join our international product company. The role is based in Porto, Portugal and operates in a hybrid model, allowing you to collaborate with a global engineering team delivering a market‑leading enterprise platform for the automotive finance, leasing, fleet management and mobility sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, cloud‑native microservices following domain‑driven design principles.
• Translate business domain models into robust service architectures and expose them via RESTful APIs.
• Maintain and optimise PostgreSQL databases and write efficient SQL queries.
• Integrate services with internal and external systems using tools such as Kafka and Postman.
• Apply modern engineering practices including CI/CD pipelines, containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes, and automated testing.
• Follow Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC) guidelines to ensure secure code delivery.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a backend software engineer.
• Professional proficiency in English.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Java 17 (Java 21 a plus).
• Microservices architecture and RESTful API development.
• SQL with PostgreSQL; familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Version control with Git; build tools Maven; CI/CD tools Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Container technologies Docker and Kubernetes.
• Message streaming with Kafka.
• Basic knowledge of Angular and API testing with Postman.
• Experience with automated testing and SSDLC practices.
