Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Rain is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own and evolve its backend platform, including API integrations with third‑party vendors. You will work with international product and engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable services for banking, payroll, and time‑keeping domains.

Key responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into robust technical solutions and lead engineering efforts.
• Design and implement reliable systems in a fully distributed micro‑services architecture.
• Build and maintain integrations with third‑party vendors and partners.
• Develop highly available RESTful APIs supporting web and mobile applications.
• Enforce observability best practices using logging, metrics, and alerting.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation and continuously monitor performance for scalability.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional engineering experience.
• Strong ownership and ability to drive projects from concept to completion.
• Excellent cross‑functional collaboration and communication skills.
• Familiarity with complex large‑scale distributed systems.

Required skills

• Go (Golang) or Python.
• Design and development of RESTful APIs.
• SQL and NoSQL databases, including data modeling and optimization.
• Message queuing systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Flink.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, ECS.
• CI/CD tools like GitLab CI and GitHub Actions.
