People Operations Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a People Operations Specialist to serve as the operational backbone of our People function. You will support employees throughout their lifecycle, ensuring smooth, compliant, and human‑focused processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate employee records and manage the full employee lifecycle.
• Act as the primary point of contact for day‑to‑day employee queries.
• Coordinate onboarding and off‑boarding with IT, Finance, and Office teams.
• Drive continuous improvement of People Ops processes and implement scalable solutions.
• Handle employment contracts, addendums, and HR policy documentation in line with Portuguese labour law.
• Collaborate with Finance on payroll under a four‑eyes principle.
• Oversee absence and leave management, ensuring statutory compliance and audit readiness.
• Manage employee benefits, address queries, and liaise with vendors.
• Advise managers on country procedures, company policy, and HR best practices.
• Assist in organizing internal events, global meetings, and team‑building activities.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in People Operations and payroll, preferably in a tech scale‑up or high‑growth environment.
• Native Portuguese proficiency with strong English communication skills.
• Experience in a transversal HR role within a fast‑paced setting.
• Solid understanding of Portuguese labour law and HR best practices.
• Exceptional organizational abilities and empathy when supporting diverse employee profiles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HR Information Systems (HRIS).
