Mechanical Design Engineer Internship – Sensors & Fire Detection

About the role

Join Bosch's Ovar site as a Mechanical Design Engineer Intern, contributing to the development of sensor solutions for complex fire detection systems. You will work within an interdisciplinary team, supporting the full product lifecycle from concept through production to end‑of‑life.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components for fire‑detection sensors, focusing on plastics and sheet‑metal parts.
• Apply model‑based engineering methods, simulations and reliability tests to ensure product safety.
• Perform statistical analysis of tolerances and evaluate field data.
• Maintain and update product data in the PDM system (SAP preferred).
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive reliability and quality.

Required profile

• Academic degree in Mechanical Design, Mechatronics or a related technical field.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design for plastics and, ideally, sheet metal.
• Experience with CREO and PDMLink or comparable CAD/PDM tools.
• Familiarity with SAP or other PDM systems.
• Analytical mindset with structured problem‑solving skills.
