Java Software Engineer – Backend (Lisbon)

About the role

PrimeIT is looking for a Java Software Engineer to join a long‑term enterprise backend project in Lisbon. The role focuses on developing, maintaining and evolving high‑performance backend services that support critical business processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java backend applications and enterprise services.
• Build and evolve RESTful APIs and integrate with external systems.
• Ensure application performance, scalability and reliability.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including testing and maintenance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional technical teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical and functional issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of architecture and code quality.

Required profile

• Proven experience with Java development (Java SE/EE, Java 8+).
• Strong background in building REST APIs and backend integrations.
• Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases (Oracle, PL/SQL).
• Experience with JPA/Hibernate, Maven and Git.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
