Cyber Security Consultant

About the role

Closer Consulting is looking for a senior Cybersecurity Control Officer to join its hybrid team in Portugal. You will work on high‑impact projects across banking, telecommunications, healthcare and other sectors, ensuring that security is built‑in from design to production.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess and prioritize cyber risks across IT projects and production environments, aligning with ISO 27001/27005, ISO 31000, NIST CSF and other standards.
• Design end‑to‑end security architectures (network, application, data, cloud) and produce hardened configuration baselines.
• Act as primary security advisor to delivery teams, translating technical requirements into actionable guidance.
• Review security deliverables, conduct independent assessments and define remediation roadmaps.
• Lead deep‑dive analyses of multi‑cloud, IaC, container and serverless architectures, defining CSP, CSPM/CSA and secret‑management controls.
• Integrate AI/ML tools for threat‑intelligence enrichment, anomaly detection and automated code review.
• Run security workshops, training sessions and Security Champion programs to raise organisational capability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive cybersecurity experience, including at least 4 years in security architecture or senior advisory roles.
• Proven track record securing large‑scale, cloud‑native environments, preferably in banking or financial services.

Required skills

• CISSP (mandatory) and preferably CISA, CCSP, AWS/Azure/GCP Security Specialty.
• Deep knowledge of ISO 27001, ISO 27005, ISO 31000, NIST CSF.
• Expertise in cloud security, container security, IaC, CSPM/CSA, secret management.
• Experience with threat modeling, risk assessment, security architecture design.
• Familiarity with AI/ML tools for security automation.
