Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher – International School

About the role

Vilamoura International School (CIV) is seeking a highly qualified, multilingual Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to support students across both the Portuguese National Curriculum and the Cambridge International Curriculum. The role involves designing inclusive learning experiences for early years through secondary students in a bilingual environment.

Key responsibilities

• Adapt learning materials for Portuguese National and Cambridge (IGCSE, AS/A Level) pathways.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for diverse learners.
• Provide targeted 1:1, small‑group, or co‑teaching interventions within mainstream classrooms.
• Coordinate exam access arrangements for Cambridge Checkpoint and IGCSE assessments.
• Collaborate with parents, educational psychologists, language therapists, and school leadership.
• Assess student progress regularly and produce detailed reports for staff and families.
• Promote emotional intelligence, social skills, and academic confidence in line with the school’s humanistic values.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or Learning Support.
• Valid teaching registration recognised in Portugal or an equivalent international qualification (e.g., QTS).
• Fluency in English and Portuguese (native‑level or professional).
• Experience managing SEN needs such as ADHD, Dyslexia, and ASD in international or private school settings.
• Strong knowledge of UK SEN Codes of Practice or Portuguese inclusion law (Decreto‑Lei n.º 54/2018).
