Project Manager – Pharmaceutical R&D

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead pharmaceutical research and development projects at our Torres Vedras site. You will drive innovation, manage funding programmes and ensure successful delivery of drug product development initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage internally and externally funded projects, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, timelines and reporting.
• Coordinate technical deliverables, budget tracking and milestone reporting.
• Maintain integrated project plans covering timelines, resources, risks and dependencies.
• Lead governance processes such as stage‑gate reviews and steering committees.
• Provide clear project status visibility through dashboards, KPIs and milestone tracking.
• Allocate budgets and resources in collaboration with functional leads.
• Facilitate decision‑making by structuring data, risks and trade‑offs.
• Drive accountability and execution discipline across cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences or related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in pharmaceutical development, CMC or technical project management.
• Proven track record managing drug product development projects.
• Solid knowledge of risk management frameworks.
• Experience with funding programmes and continuous improvement initiatives is a strong advantage.
