Labour Law Counsel – Legal Advisor (Portugal)

About the role

The Labour Law Counsel will work closely with the Senior Labour Law Counsel to provide day‑to‑day legal support on Portuguese employment matters for the Human Resources department and business units of BNP Paribas in Portugal.

Key responsibilities

• Advise HR on all aspects of Portuguese labour law, including contract drafting, policy updates and employee relations.
• Draft, review and amend employment contracts, addenda and related legal documentation.
• Prepare internal regulations, policies and legal opinions as required.
• Participate in meetings with employee representatives, workers’ councils and trade unions.
• Support HR business partners during individual employee meetings and handle disciplinary procedures.
• Analyse claims and grievances and produce necessary legal documentation for disciplinary actions.

Required profile

• Law degree from a Portuguese university and admission to the Portuguese Bar Association.
• 4–7 years of experience practising Portuguese labour law, including litigation.
• Fluent English (mandatory) and strong written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
