Financial Controller – Multinational Finance Team

About the role

The multinational organization is expanding its finance function and seeks a Financial Controller to support the Finance Director. The role will ensure accurate daily accounting, compliance with Portuguese regulations, and alignment with Group reporting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records.
• Coordinate with the Shared Service Center (SSC) on a daily basis.
• Support month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing processes under tight deadlines.
• Prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations and ensure proper documentation.
• Align local accounting records with Group reporting requirements.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Prepare and submit VAT, CIT, withholding tax, SAF‑T and other statutory filings.
• Ensure compliance with Portuguese accounting standards (SNC).
• Reconcile accounts, investigate discrepancies and resolve them promptly.
• Support the preparation of IES and other annual statutory filings.
• Work daily with SAP FI module and reporting tools, extracting and validating data for reporting.
• Prepare audit files and liaise with external auditors.
• Maintain adherence to internal control procedures.

Required profile

• Degree or Master’s in Accounting, Economics, Management or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in a similar accounting or consulting role.
• Strong knowledge of Portuguese tax and accounting framework.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel (pivot tables).
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA (preferred) and SAP FI module.
• Fluent English (mandatory); Spanish is a plus.
