Director of Engineering – Digital Services

About the role

Paymentology is building the global payments platform of the future and is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead the Digital Services domain. This high‑impact role will shape engineering strategy, drive technical excellence, and build the organisational foundations needed to scale across more than 60 countries.

Key responsibilities

• Define and communicate the engineering strategy for Digital Services, aligning technical outcomes with business and product priorities.
• Lead, coach, and develop Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders, fostering autonomy and succession.
• Establish operating rhythms, accountability, and visibility to ensure predictable delivery across a complex portfolio.
• Design team structures, ownership models, and capability growth plans to support scaling.
• Champion architecture, reliability, security, observability, performance, and maintainability.
• Partner closely with Product, Architecture, Operations, and senior leadership to keep engineering aligned with customer needs.
• Navigate ambiguity, make trade‑offs between value, speed, quality, risk, and sustainability.
• Use engineering, operational, and people metrics to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
