Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Airbus is preparing a new industrial setup for its future zero-emission aircraft, bundling aerostructures assembly activities into a single company in Germany. You will join the procurement team of Airbus Aerostructures (ASA) in Lisbon, supporting the Procurement Cost & Value Engineering Team and acting as its technical interface with suppliers and other internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical interface of purchasing with suppliers and other functions
• Create and validate technical specifications for transferred work activities and relocation package components
• Assess industrial concepts and the feasibility of work packages
• Analyse supplier offers on production times, set-up times, resources and optimisation potential
• Evaluate technical and commercial component information and manufacturing processes for tenders, optimisation projects, industrialisation and LAI gap closure
• Lead design-to-cost projects with suppliers and identify cost optimisation potential (DtC/DtV, Lean)
• Carry out technical shop floor assessments at suppliers, initiate and track measures, and accompany audits as a technical expert

Required profile

• Diploma or Master's degree in engineering, materials science or a comparable qualification
• Sound knowledge of manufacturing composite and/or metallic materials and of production and manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, focused factory and six sigma
• Project management experience; procurement experience is a plus
• Negotiation-level English; German is a plus
• Willingness to occasional business travel
