Cost Engineer – Airbus Aerostructures

About the role

Airbus Portugal is hiring a Cost Engineer (listed as Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineer) to join its GBS team in Lisbon. The role coordinates and controls internal and external resources and ensures cost, time and quality requirements are met, including budget responsibility for responsible projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage design-to-cost projects with Airbus Aerostructures suppliers
• Identify cost optimization potentials at suppliers and advise strategic buyers in negotiations, using technical expertise
• Carry out shop floor assessments at suppliers, for example according to the lean approach, and initiate and follow up measures and their effectiveness
• Analyze market data and suppliers along the supply chain and develop detailed cost structures
• Monitor market trends and support the purchasing strategy for innovative technologies and market development
• Present project results regularly to management

Required profile

• Diploma or Master's degree in engineering, materials science, technical business administration, economics or a comparable qualification
• Experience in strategic sourcing, design to cost/design to value, lean management and cost calculation desirable
• Well-founded knowledge of manufacturing metallic materials and/or composites
• In-depth knowledge of production and manufacturing processes
• Project management experience
• Strong analytical skills, structured way of working and confident, assertive communication and presentation skills
• Fluent English; German desirable
