Summer Law Clerkship – Puerto Rico (2027)

About the role

Earthjustice is seeking law students to join its Puerto Rico team for a ten‑week, full‑time summer clerkship in 2027. The position supports the organization’s work to transition the island to clean, renewable energy by providing legal assistance on environmental, labor and civil‑society matters.

Key responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with case development and litigation strategy.
• Draft pleadings, briefs and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and develop legal theories.
• Gather and organize evidence for environmental lawsuits.
• Participate in client meetings, court proceedings and seminars.
• Engage with local and regional environmental groups and attend workshops.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a U.S. law school through fall 2027 (not graduating before December 2027).
• Available to work full‑time for ten weeks during the summer of 2027.
• Willing to work onsite in the United States, preferably near the program location.

Required skills

• Legal research.
• Drafting of pleadings and briefs.
• Evidence collection and case analysis.
