About the role
BigGroup is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to shape the architecture of its fast‑growing e‑commerce ecosystem across Europe. You will work on highly scalable, resilient systems that directly impact our clients and business.
Key responsibilities
- Define and evolve system architecture to ensure scalability, resilience and efficiency.
- Translate business needs into technical solutions, leading discovery and delivery.
- Make long‑term technical decisions with clear business impact.
- Guarantee observability, recoverability and operability of services.
- Respond to incidents and urgent demands while balancing strategic focus.
- Collaborate with product, data and stakeholder teams to define technical strategies.
- Promote best practices, standards and technical consistency across squads.
- Act as a technical reference, raising the bar for engineering excellence.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English.
Required skills
- Backend development with Golang, Python or similar languages.
- Distributed architecture: microservices, event‑driven (Kafka), CQRS/Saga, eventual consistency, idempotency.
- API design: REST, OpenAPI, versioning.
- Data & storage: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Kafka, Elasticsearch.
- Cloud & DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform (IaC), CI/CD pipelines.
- Observability: OpenTelemetry, structured logs, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, SLI/SLO.
- Security: OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, mTLS/TLS, secrets management (Vault).
- Quality & governance: TDD/BDD, contract testing, linters, code review, ADRs/RFCs.
