Software Engineer – Perl & Telecom OSS (Lisbon)

About the role

We are seeking a Software Engineer to develop and maintain backend OSS applications that support telecom network operations in Lisbon. The role involves close collaboration with network engineers, architects, and operations teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance backend OSS applications and automation tools using Perl.
• Build and integrate interfaces with network elements, mediation systems, and OSS/BSS platforms.
• Design solutions for network inventory, service provisioning, fault management, and service activation.
• Process, transform, and route high‑volume network data feeds from network elements.
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to translate operational requirements into technical designs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production OSS environments.
• Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer with Perl as a core technology.
• Hands‑on experience in a Telecom OSS environment (network inventory, fault management, provisioning, or data mediation).
• Familiarity with telecom protocols such as SNMP, SOAP/XML, TL1, or NETCONF/YANG.
• Experience integrating with NMS/EMS systems or network element APIs.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Comfortable working in Linux/Unix environments and using shell scripting.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
