Software Architect – AI Platform

About the role

Air Apps is looking for a Software Architect to define and oversee the system architecture of its AI‑powered Personal & Entrepreneurial Resource Planner. You will work onsite in Lisbon, collaborating with engineering, product, and stakeholder teams to deliver scalable, secure, high‑performance solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain overall architecture and system design for scalable software solutions.
• Provide technical leadership, guiding engineering teams on best practices for architecture, coding, and scalability.
• Design high‑level system diagrams, data flows, and API structures.
• Evaluate and recommend technologies, cloud services, and frameworks to optimize performance, security, and cost.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and security across all architectural decisions.
• Oversee integrations of microservices, APIs, and third‑party services.
• Collaborate with DevOps/SRE to ensure smooth deployment and operational reliability.

Required profile

• 6+ years of software development and architecture experience.
• Strong expertise in system design, cloud computing, and microservices.
• Proven ability to evaluate trade‑offs in architectural decisions.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Backend: Node.js, Python, Java.NET.
• Frontend: React, Angular, Vue.
• Databases: SQL, NoSQL; caching and data pipelines.
• Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation.
• Security: identity management, encryption, best practices.
