Senior Functional Safety Engineer

About the role

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to lead safety concept development for automotive electronic systems. You will work with cross‑functional hardware, software and system teams to ensure compliance with ISO 26262 and deliver robust safety solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop Item Definition, HARA, Safety Goals, Functional Safety Concept (FSC) and Technical Safety Concept (TSC).
• Derive functional and technical safety requirements and align them with ISO 26262.
• Support system, hardware and software teams in safety requirements elicitation.
• Perform system‑level safety analyses such as FTA, FMEA, DFA, CCA and fault‑failure investigations.
• Design safety mechanisms including redundancy, monitoring, diagnostics, degraded modes and safe states.
• Define verification strategies for FSC, TSC and system architecture deliverables.
• Provide guidelines, best practices and conduct formal reviews of safety concepts and architecture.

Required profile

• At least 8 years of functional safety experience in the automotive sector.
• Strong knowledge of automotive electrical/electronic architectures.
• Deep expertise in ISO 26262 Parts 3 and 4 and ASPICE lifecycle processes.
• Proven experience with HARA, FSC, TSC and safety goal definition.

Required skills

• ISO 26262 functional safety standards.
• Automotive E/E architecture knowledge.
• System safety analysis methods: FTA, FMEA, DFA, CCA, FFI.
• UML / SysML for system architectural design.
• ASPICE process familiarity.
