Firmware & Electrical Engineering Manager

About the role

Join our Porto team as Firmware & Electrical Engineering Manager, leading a group of firmware and electrical engineers to deliver hardware for every device we ship. You will shape careers, review designs, and stay hands‑on to unblock technical challenges while setting the technical bar.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Firmware and Electrical Engineers, conducting 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations.
• Champion structured engineering workflows, drive process improvements, and oversee 8D investigations, component lifecycle management, and design changes.
• Manage delivery by planning capacity, allocating resources, partnering with project managers on schedule, risk, and issue tracking, and acting as project manager for selected initiatives.
• Coordinate closely with firmware/electrical groups and other engineering teams to ensure co‑design, interface definition, and timely issue resolution for EVT/DVT/PVT builds.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years of experience in electrical engineering, embedded firmware, or combined EE/FW roles.
• Proven leadership experience, formal or informal, influencing outcomes and developing talent.
• Strong communication and technical documentation abilities.
• Comfortable working cross‑functionally in fast‑paced hardware development cycles (EVT/DVT/PVT).

Required skills

• Microcontrollers and embedded C/C++ development.
• Board bring‑up and power‑system design.
• Use of debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, JTAG, and logic analyzers.
• Embedded firmware development and close collaboration with firmware engineers.
• Electrical engineering and hardware design expertise.
