Senior DevOps Engineer – CI/CD & Kubernetes

About the role

You will own how software is built, shipped and run across Opplane’s infrastructure. This hands‑on position sets standards for CI/CD, container platforms and infrastructure‑as‑code, while mentoring the DevOps team and collaborating closely with the Site Reliability Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise GitLab CI/CD pipelines for microservices and GitOps‑based Kubernetes deployments.
• Deploy and operate containerised applications on Kubernetes (EKS, GKE, AKS or on‑prem) and define image and manifest standards.
• Provision, scale and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform or AWS CDK, creating reusable modules.
• Support development teams with containerisation, environment setup and continuous delivery practices.
• Set up and maintain monitoring, logging and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) for services and pipelines.
• Manage secrets, access controls and image security throughout the CI/CD and Kubernetes stack.
• Coach and review the work of other DevOps engineers, raising the team’s baseline.

Required profile

• Several years in DevOps or platform roles with ownership of delivery tooling and mentoring responsibilities.
• Strong expertise in GitLab CI/CD, including .gitlab-ci.yml, runners optimisation, artifact handling and secret management.
• Hands‑on experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.
• Deep knowledge of core Kubernetes objects (Deployments, StatefulSets, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, HPA) and day‑to‑day troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Docker, multi‑stage Dockerfiles, image lifecycle and basic container security.
• Proven experience with Terraform or AWS CDK for automated infrastructure provisioning.
• Solid background in AWS cloud services.
• Programming/scripting skills in Python or Bash.
• Fundamental Linux and networking knowledge (DNS, TLS, load balancing).
